This school is made of mud
The Cailbro school, found half an hours drive from Wubin (and pretty close to the Great Northern Highway) is unique. Not only was it constructed of mud bricks which were created on-site, but it's been preserved thanks to a big metal shade cover. It turns out that mud bricks don't fare well to several decades of weather.
There would have been many rural schools just like this when it operated from 1938 to 1956, but they were either dismantled or have been lost to time in other ways. It's a rare look into how tough schooling was back in those days, but also shows the length parents would go to ensure their kids had an education.
