Western Australia's oldest national park
As we deduced in a previous video, Walyunga is NOT the oldest national park in Western Australia (despite what a certain Wikipedia page says). No, it's John Forrest National Park, of course. Located just 30km from Perth, John Forrest is known for its valleys, water falls, rustic 1930s amenities and abandoned railway infrastructure.
The second Eastern Railway route travelled through here in the 1880s, showing many people just how beautiful the landscape was. Thus, it was earmarked early to not be developed, ensuring it will be enjoyed for many years to come. As I delve into the history of the Eastern Railway and how John Forrest came to be, I hike the Eagle View Trail in the wrong direction (thanks, All Trails).
